Former Pittsburgh Pirates relief ace Kent Tekulve is serving as host for the annual MGAGolf Outing Aug. 21 at Butler Country Club, which raises money to fight myasthenia gravis.

Myasthenia gravis is a neuromuscular disorder with no known cause or cure. Last year's tournament raised more than $40,000 for MGA.

Golfing, volunteer and sponsorship opportunities still exist. Golfing costs $225 per golfer, $900 for a foursome. Sponsorships range from $50 to $5,000.

JACKSON TWP — The Western PAWarhawks semi-pro football team will feature Armed Forces Night when it hosts the Ohio Cardinals at 7 p.m. Saturday at NexTier Stadium, on the campus of Seneca Valley High School.All military men and women will be admitted free. The Yellow Ribbon Girls will have a booth and information to give to fans on how they can support our troops. The military will be recognized at halftime.

All of Wednesday's Butler County American Legion baseball playoff games were rained out.Games will resume today. Center Township and Saxonburg, tied at 4 through eight innings Tuesday, will finish their game at 5 p.m. at Laura Doerr Park. The winner will go to East Butler for an 8:15 p.m. game.The loser stays at Laura Doerr Park to play Meridian. Butler City travels to Mars and Karns City heads to Butler Township for 6 p.m. games.

Brian Minto's heavyweight fight against Andy Sample, originally scheduled for Aug. 4 at Mountaineer Racetrack and Gaming Resort, has been moved to Aug. 11.Butler's Minto (25-1, 14 KOs) will face Sample (34-13-2) of Topeka, Kan., on the card.
