SAEGERTOWN — Dalton Koebler pitched a complete game and smacked a two-run homer in the third inning to spark Butler Township's 5-0 victory over Titusville in a Section 2 Little League (ages 11 and 12) second-round playoff game Tuesday.
Koebler didn't allow a walk and scattered four hits in six innings of work and added a single, as did teammates Matthew Baranchak and Spencer Murray.
Ken Meely had a double and Zack Vroman, Jayce Corklin and Adam Bleday each had a single for Titusville.
Butler Township will face Grove City at 6 p.m. Thursday in Saegertown.
Brett Rinker of Slippery Rock carded an 81, while his sister, Jenna, carded an 86 as they took first and second, respectively, in their age groups in the Northeast Junior Golf Tour stop at Somerset Country Club recently.Brett also won the Southwest Junior Golf Tour event at Pine Hills Golf Club in Hinckley, Ohio, shooting a 36 for nine holes.Jenna Rinker took second place with an 85 at the most recent King's tournament at the Greenville Country Club.
Pitcher Monica Glomb, a senior at Mars High School, won three games for the Pittsburgh Patriots 18-and-under traveling fast-pitch softball team at the Beaver County Bash last weekend en route to the championship title.In 20 innings pitched, Glomb allowed just four hits and no earned runs.The Patriots will travel to Toledo, Ohio, next weekend before attending the ASA Nationals in Owensboro, Ky.
