Dallas J. VanDyke

Dallas J. VanDyke, 89, of West Prairie Street Extension, Harrisville, died at 1:38 a.m. Friday in the emergency room at the Grove City Medical Center.

Born June 20, 1917, in Harrisville, he was a son of Harry G. and Saddie J. Shaw VanDyke.

He was a graduate of Harrisville High School and retired in 1998 as a Mercer Township supervisor and caretaker. He also retired from General Electric in Grove City in 1985 and was a former employee of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He also was a farmer.

Mr. VanDyke was a member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church, where he belonged to the Men's Sunday School class and was a former trustee.

He enjoyed hunting and gardening.

Surviving are his wife, Eudora P. "Dorie" Stallsmith VanDyke, whom he married Aug. 5, 1941; a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Marilyn G.) Knight of Cortland, Ohio; a son Ronald D. VanDyke of Harrisville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, William R. VanDyke of Eau Claire.

He was preceded in death by a daughter and four brothers.

<B>VANDYKE </B>— Friends of Dallas J. VanDyke, who died Friday, June 23, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Jamison Funeral HomE</B>, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at funeral home with the Rev. Jeffrey St. Clair, his church pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.Memorial donations be made to the Harrisville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 424, Harrisville, PA 16038.
