Charles "Chuck" Bistransin, 77, of 101 Steelton Ave. died Wednesday at the UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh after an illness.

Born Aug. 22, 1928, in Lyndora, he was a son of Michael and Anna Pavlik Bistransin.

He retired in 1991 from the melt shop at Armco-Butler Works after nearly 38 years.

Mr. Bistransin was a World War II Navy veteran and was a member of the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora and the VFW Post 249 in Butler.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Lyndora.

He was a former Boy Scout leader with the Armco Boy Scout troop.

Surviving are his wife, Annabelle Mellish Bistransin, whom he married Aug. 13, 1955; a son, David C. Bistransin of Sharon; two daughters, Mrs. Anthony (Kathleen) Young of Sharpsburg and Mrs. Patrick (Joni) Hortert of Butler; his twin brother, Peter Bistransin of Greenville, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Boros of Butler.

Six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, an infant grandson, three brothers and two sisters.

<B>BISTRANSIN </B>— Friends of Charles "Chuck" Bistransin, who died Wednesday, July 5, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>. 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora with the Rev. Dennis Bogda officiating. Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park, Butler Township.Parastas services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
