John S. Rieger

John S. Rieger, 94, of West Sunbury died at 4:25 a.m. Saturday at his home.

Born May 29, 1912, in Butler, he was the son of Julius and Mae Elizabeth Sopher Rieger.

He was a veteran of the National Guard during World War II. He retired after 30 years of service from Armco as a hot mill maintenance turn foreman.

He was a member of the West Sunbury United Presbyterian Church and served as an elder and trustee.

He also belonged to the West Sunbury Fireman and the Harrisville Sportsmen's Club. He enjoyed hunting, trap shopping and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, E. Maude Smith Rieger, whom he married Sept. 19, 1933. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Don (Jean) Vidic of West Sunbury; a son, William Jon Rieger of Butler; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

<B>RIEGER</B> — Friends of John S. Rieger, who died Saturday, July 8, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the West Sunbury Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Wayne Bell officiating.Burial will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
