A Jefferson Township man accidentally ran over his 2-year-old daughter with a Bobcat excavator Friday night.

State police report Richard Lee McDeavitt, 25, who didn't see his daughter, was backing the vehicle off a trailer at his home at 127 Caldwell Drive, about 8:40 p.m. when the girl was hit.

Butler County Deputy Coroner Chuck Lewis pronounced the girl dead at the scene.

Police did not release the first name of the girl.
