Buffalo Township site is ideal location for a business park

People of Butler County should embrace the evolving effort by the Buffalo Township supervisors on behalf of development of a business park at the intersection of Routes 356 and 28.

It is an ideal location for such a venture, and the business park would not conflict with other development ongoing within the municipality.

The township already has two formidable allies in regard to the effort, the Community Development Corporation of Butler County and the county board of commissioners — both of which already have pledged support.

While there is no timeline for development of the business park, it will depend on the success of the township and CDC in getting the word out about the opportunity that awaits business enterprises looking to relocate or expand. Gene Bushyeager, the Clarion County businessman who has an option to buy the 57-acre tract on which the business park is envisioned, has said the supervisors' goal is attainable if the township helps find tenants for the site.

With its location close to Pittsburgh, and with the availability of four-lane, limited-access Route 28, the proposed business park offers numerous opportunities and possibilities. The site would be even better poised for development if there were a four-lane, limited-access Route 356 to Butler for access to points north and west.

For now, as Bushyeager indicated, it boils down to how well the message about the site is conveyed to potential occupants and how aggressively those prospects are pursued.

Regardless of any setbacks that might be encountered, the current enthusiasm should not be allowed to wane.
