There will be lane restrictions on Interstates 79 and 80 from Sept. 11 to Oct. 31 for work on three bridges in Butler and Clarion counties, the state Department of Transportation announced.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on a bridge 1.2 miles south of the Route 488 interchange in Muddy Creek Township. The bridge will be repaved, a PennDOT news release said.

Traffic also will be reduced to one lane in each direction in the vicinity of two bridges on I-80 in Clarion County, the release said. The bridges carry the interstate over the Allegheny and Clarion Rivers.

One is 1.2 miles west of the Route 478 exit. The other is 1.1 miles west of the Route 68 exit. The bridge decks will have a surface coating applied, the release said.

EAST BRADY — A group that is trying to plan a Christmas extravaganza for the East Brady area will meet Sept. 7 to discuss community suggestions for the event.The group wants to have the event on the same weekend, Dec. 1 to 2, as the We Believe Christmas Craft Sale at homes, businesses and churches.For the extravaganza, the group is planning a light night at the park Friday, a parade with Santa and Mrs. Claus, children's activity time and visits with the Clauses on Saturday afternoon, a children's musical Saturday night and a community cantata on Sunday afternoon.The meeting to discuss the event is at 6 p.m. Sept. 7 at the East Brady Community Center.For information, call Sandy at 724-526-5531, Steve or Mary Ann at 724-526-5754, or Sally at 724-526-5174.

SOUTH BUFFALO TWP, Armstrong Co. — Paving of a 2.9 mile section of Route 28 in the township will resume next week, the state Department of Transportation announced.The contractor, Derry Construction, temporarily stopped work while materials were tested."The tests confirmed that the materials met PennDOT's standards of quality," a PennDOT news release said.Next week, traffic in each direction will be restricted to the left lanes while crews pave the right lanes and shoulders and replace guardrails, the release said.Traffic will then be shifted to the right lanes, while the left lanes and shoulders are paved.The $2.8 million project is set to be done Sept. 29.
