Air Force Col.

Joseph Dill, son of Lois McKnight of Butler, recently was elevated to his current rank.Dill joined the Air Force after graduating from Butler High School in 1978.After two years of service, he received a college scholarship and graduated from Wilkes College, Wilkes-Barre, in 1984 and received his silver wings after graduating from Air Force navigator training at Mather Air Force Base in California.In 1999, he graduated from the Naval War College, Newport, R.I., and taught at the war college for a year following his graduation.He was a weapons systems officer on the B-1 bomber in 1994 and was a navigator on the Stealth bomber in 1996.The colonel received the OPSEC Award in 1997.In May 2004, he assumed command of the 2nd Air Support Operation Squadron, Wurzburg, Germany.During his 19 months as commander, he led the unit through a deployment in Iraq in support of the 1st ID and Task Force Danger during Operation Iraqi Freedom II. Shannon Stiteler was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal for his meritorious service from Sept. 16, 2003, to Aug. 30, 2006, as the division officer assigned to the base.As the supervisor of the active duty military police force at NSA Mechanicsburg, Stiteler led a division of 11 officers and contributes directly to the safety and security of the bases population and more than 9 million square feet of office and warehouse space.During this period, Stiteler implemented and managed physical security, training and budgeting programs that operated flawlessly during his tour of duty. He also coordinated and supervised the security for the base's first ever Freedom Fest Concert that hosted more than 5,000 civilian and military personnel.Originally from Butler, Stiteler enlisted in the Navy on April 3, 1990. His three sisters, Darlene and Valerie Stiteler and Tracy Hockenberry lived in Butler.———Air Force Airman

Joshua Robison has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.He is the son of John and Robin Robison of Lyndora.Robison is a 2003 graduate of Butler High School.
