Herman Steppling
Herman J. Steppling, 91, of Sarver died Monday at the Saxony Health Center, Saxonburg.
Born Nov. 20, 1914, in Donora, he was the son of Joseph and Matilda Foertch Steppling.
He served in the Army from 1943 to 1946 before moving to Sarver.
Mr. Steppling was a storekeeper at Allegheny Ludlum Steel and retired in 1977 after 34 years. He and his wife also co-owned the H&L RV Service Co. in Sarver.
He was a Buffalo Township supervisor for 21 years. He also was the president of the Saxonburg Community Easter Sun-Rise Service. He arranged the Buffalo Township Senior Citizens group and served as president and bus tour director for years.
He was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church in Sarver, where he was the kitchen supervisor. He also was a youth adviser in the Butler District Youth Council of the United Methodist Church for Butler, Beaver and Lawrence counties.
His hobbies included electrical work and selling Tupperware.
Surviving are his wife, Lois M. Miller Steppling of Sarver, whom he married Sept. 13, 1941; a daughter, Suzanne (Bob) Frick of Sarver, and a granddaughter, Nicole.
A son, James David, and two sisters preceded him in death.
<B>STEPPLING </B>— Friends of Herman J. Steppling, who died Monday, Aug. 14, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Howard Greenfield officiating.
