Regis E. Cupps
Regis E. Cupps, 81, of 465 S. Eberhart Road died Monday afternoon at the Passavant Retirement Center in Zelie-nople.
Born in Butler, April 19, 1925, he was a son of Harry E. and Rose McLaughlin Cupps.
During World War II, he served with the Army infantry in Europe. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat in Germany during the Battle of the Bulge in February 1945. He also received the Combat Infantryman's Badge.
He retired in May 1990 as an electrician at Armco-Butler Works after nearly 47 years.
Mr. Cupps was an active member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian, where he had served as a Eucharistic minister, an adult altar server volunteer and was a member of the Men's Club.
He also was a member of the American Legion and the Armco Veterans Club.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ellen Reed Roth Cupps, whom he married June 21, 1949; two sons, Jeffrey E. Cupps and his wife, Catherine, and David W. Cupps, all of Richmond, Va.; a daughter, Kathleen Ann Cupps of Butler; and two granddaughters, Allison Reed Cupps and Emily Reed Cupps, both of Richmond.
He also is survived by three brothers, Alfred J., Francis A. and Eugene V. Cupps, all of Butler; two sisters, Florence M. Stickney of Williamsburg, Va., and Helen Cecelia McGuirk of Fairfax, Va., and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Cratty, who died in 2005.
<B>CUPPS </B>— Friends of Regis E. Cupps, who died Monday, Aug. 14, 2006, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, Meridian. The Rev. James Murphy will officiate. Burial will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery, Coylesville.The Bereavement Committee of St. Fidelis Parish will hold a parish vigil service at 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.Memorial donations may be made to St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler, PA 16001; or to the Butler County Chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 400 E.
