Butler's top administrators get new contracts, pay hikes
BUTLER TWP — The top administrators at Butler School District have had their contracts renewed until 2012.
The superintendent, three assistant superintendents and business manager will have an average salary increase of 2.75 percent each of the next five years.
The school board approved the contracts Monday night effective July 1.
Each will get a 2.55 percent increase for July 1 to June 30, 2008.
In some cases, administrators got an equity increase. This is an effort by the district to bring the pay of those administrators up to the level of similar administrators in other districts.
Ed Fink, superintendent, will get a $141,883.60 salary for July 1, 2007, to June 30, 2008. Fink has been the superintendent at Butler for 12 years and has 29 years of administration experience.
Michael Strutt will be paid $120,482.02 in the coming school year. He has held the assistant superintendent for secondary education position for 12 years.
Jerry Slamecka, assistant superintendent for personnel, technology and federal/state programs, will be paid $116,871.46. He has 21 years of administration experience.
Carolyn Cornish, assistant superintendent for elementary education, will be paid $110,690.72. That includes an equity increase of 3.8 percent in addition to the 2.55 percent increase. She has 14 years of administration experience, seven of them with the district.
Cathy Rodgers, business manager, will be paid $84,356.91. This includes a 3.8 percent equity increase. Rodgers joined the district 2Z\x years ago.
The five will see a 2.65 percent increase in 2008-09; 2.75 percent increase in 2009-10; a 2.85 percent increase in 2010-11; and a 2.95 percent increase in 2011-12.
The five contracts also saw these changes:
• Easter Monday added as a holiday
• A schedule for reimbursement for graduate credits
• Contributions for medical insurance
• Increase in life insurance from $200,000 to $210,000 and whole life insurance from $30,000 to $35,000 at retirement.
