Hook takes playoff hole to lift Knights to win

Competitors leave the starting area during the Knoch-Butler-North Hills boys cross country meet at Knoch Tuesday. The Tornado defeated Knoch 21-38 and North Hills 21-36, and the Knights also lost to North Hills 26-29.

Knoch's John Hook shot a 38 and, more importantly, shot par on the playoff hole to nip Adam Wood and Kiski Area 204-204 in boys high school golf Tuesday.

Joe Sopcisak shot a 39 for Knoch (6-2. 5-2).

Allyson Kepple and Julienne Scott each scored two goals to lead Karns City to a 6-1 rout of Clarion.Also scoring goals were Michelle Sweeney and Brooke Miller. Kiersten Foreback tallied the shutout in net for the Gremlins (6-1).<B>Slippery Rock 5, Hickory 0 — </B>Alissa McCune scored two goals for the Rockets (7-0) while Brittney Miller had two assists. Sarah Cessner, Karly Rhoades and Mallory Ralston each added single tallies.Kara Foley got the shutout in goal.

Butler's Wade Grubbs and Ben Horner each scored one goal while Tim Duffy and Zeke O'Donnell combined in net to shut out North Allegheny in a 2-0 win for the Tornado (8-0).<B>Knoch 2, Freeport 1 —</B> Buddy Carr scored both goals for the Knights (4-3).
