Fontaine Kearse

On this day a mother, a grandmother, a sister and a friend left our sight but not our hearts.

Fontaine "Taina" Kearse, 75, of Butler died at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at her home with her family.

Born on Sept. 27, 1930, to the late James Klutinoty (part-owner of the Hot Dog Shop) and the late Lucille Mantha Klutinoty. Raised in Butler along with her 3 brothers, Taina graduated from Butler High School in 1948. In 1951, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she raised 2 children. In 1967, Taina and her children returned to Butler where she worked at Hart's Clothing Store, The Bon Ton and managed the Physicians Weight Loss Center. In later years, she was employed by Tri-County Manpower, where she worked in numerous positions for nonprofit organizations throughout the community.

Taina was also a believer in giving back to the community in the form of volunteer work. In 1969, she was honored and recognized by the YMCA for her generous support and service to young people. She volunteered as a hospice worker, was a long-time member of the Butler Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church.

Some of Taina's best memories were of times spent with family and friends dancing, playing cards, vacationing with the girls, dinner and a movie or just being with people. Seemed Taina knew just about everyone in Butler. She was also a big fan and supporter of the Butler Little Theatre.

Fontaine was preceded in death by her parents; her son, James Thompson "Tom" Kearse; and 2 brothers, Buddy and Tony Klutinoty.

She is survived and sadly missed by her daughter, Stephanie Anne Kearse; 4 grandchildren, Zachary, Faith, Jonathan and Jessie; and a brother, Dr. George Klutinoty; and many friends.
