DALLAS — Flamboyant Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens attempted suicide by overdosing on pain medication, even putting two more pills into his mouth after fire rescue personnel arrived.A Dallas police report released this morning said Owens told rescue workers "that he was depressed." The report was first released by WFAA-TV.The rescue worker "noticed that (his) prescription pain medication was empty and observed (Owens) putting two pills in his mouth," the police report said.The worker attempted to pry them out with her fingers, then was told by Owens that before this incident he'd taken only five of the 40 pain pills in the bottle he'd emptied. The worker then asked Owens "if he was attempting to harm himself, at which time (he) stated, 'Yes."'
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Buck O'Neil has been hospitalized because of extreme fatigue, and friends are becoming increasingly worried about the 94-year-old former Negro Leagues player.O'Neil spent about three days in the hospital in August, then was readmitted about 10 days ago. An official of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City said Tuesday he visited O'Neil and that he was still very weak.O'Neil barely missed being voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in February when a special committee considered several dozen Negro League and pre-Negro League figures.
HOUSTON — Rice will play its scheduled game against Army on Saturday, despite the death of defensive back Dale Lloyd.Lloyd, 19, collapsed on the field about 5 p.m. Sunday during a light workout but was conscious when taken to a hospital by ambulance. He died about 9 a.m. Monday, school officials said.
