John 'Ted' Hegburg
John E. "Ted" Hegburg, 87, of Chicora died of natural causes at 10:40 p.m. Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Chicora, Aug, 12, 1919, he was the son of John A. and Mary C. Spencer Hegburg.
He had worked at the Fretz-Moon Tube Co. in East Butler for 21 years until the plant closed in 1963. He then worked at the Logan Candy Co. for 10 years until his retirement.
He was a 60-year member of St. Paul's Community Church, formerly St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Chicora.
Mr. Hegburg was a good storyteller and enjoyed playing his harmonica.
Surviving are his wife, Mona McClure Hegburg, whom he married Feb. 23, 1940, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
<B>HEGBURG </B>— Friends of John E. "Ted" Hegburg, who died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. Visitation also will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Community Church, Route 268, Chicora, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Randall Forester, church pastor and the Rev. Robert Weisenstein officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Route 268, Chicora.
