Clarence F. Wolfe

Clarence F. Wolfe, 86, of 324 Carbon Center Road died at 9 p.m. Tuesday at his home after an illness.

Born Nov. 30, 1919, in Great Belt, he was a son of Frank and Theresa Knauer Wolfe.

He retired in June 1982 after 32 years at Armco-Butler Works, where he had been a bander and roll builder in the cold mill.

Mr. Wolfe served twice in the U.S. Military. Prior to World War II, he had been a member of the Coast Guard; and during WWII, he served 3½ years in the Army, 24 months of which were in the Southwest Pacific, Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa with the Quartermaster Corps Amphibious Tractor Battalion. He was awarded the Philippines Liberation Ribbon and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three bronze stars and a bronze arrowhead.

Surviving are his caregiver and companion for the past 12 years, Georgia Miller; two stepdaughters, Mrs. John (Joan) Maire and Mrs. Thomas (Becky) Stotish, both of Butler; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 47 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both his wives, Helen Hutchison Bowser Wolfe, and later, Gladys Hutchison Rihel Wolfe, who he married Oct. 28, 1991, and who died April 27, 2000. He also was preceded in death by a stepson, stepdaughter and stepgrandson.

<B>WOLFE </B>— Friends of Clarence F. Wolfe, who died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St. Burial, with military honors accorded by the Butler VFW 249 Ceremonial Honor Squad, will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.The St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will recite the rosary at 10:40 a.m. Saturday at the church.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
