William A. Smith

William A. Smith, 79, of Linsdale Drive, formerly of Standard Avenue, died Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Nov. 18, 1926, he was the son of Hugh and Jesslyn Watkins Smith.

He retired after 42 years in the stainless processing department at Armco-Butler Works, and he was a member of the Armco Veterans Clubs.

Mr. Smith was an avid hunter and belonged to the Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club and the NRA. He also loved to travel.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Rose Kaib Smith, to whom he was married for 31 years; a son, Robert C. Smith of Los Alamitos, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Bette Marie Lagana of Riverside, Calif., and Terri Lynn Smith of Anza, Calif.; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He also is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Bette McAnany and Mrs. James (Joyce) Wigton, both of Butler; three stepsons, Jay Mohn of Karns City, Dean Mohn of Sarver and Lee Mohn of Butler, and a stepdaughter, Luanne Fettig of Lake Worth, Fla.

He was preceded in death by a son, a brother and a stepdaughter.

<B>SMITH </B>— Friends of William A. Smith, who died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave. A blessing service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Butler County Memorial Park, Butler Township.
