Delbert Williams
Delbert E. Williams, 72, of Murtland Road, Karns City, died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday at the home of his son in North Washington after a long illness.
Born in Annisville, Washington Township, March 10, 1935, he was a son of Delbert P. and Olive M. Rickenbrode Williams.
He was a member of the Martinsburg Church of Bruin.
Mr. Wiliams had attended Karns City High School. In 1997, he retired from Indspec in Petrolia, where he worked for 25 years, most of which was in the boiler house.
He enjoyed horses and gunsmithing and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Samples Border Rangers and he enjoyed taking part in the Mountain Man Rendezvous at Moraine State Park each year. He made his own dulcimer, which he enjoyed playing.
Surviving are his wife, Merriel Mae Rihel Williams, whom he married May 2, 1953, at the Bruin Methodist Church; four sons, Delbert Charles Williams of North Washington, Samuel E. Williams and his wife, Stacie, of Bruin, Clayton M. Williams and his wife, Tammy, of Clarion and Karl E. Williams and his wife, Connie, of Karns City; two daughters, Melissa Ann Kaiser and Joe Gibson of Butler and Dawn I. Williams of Hilliards; 19 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He also is survived by a brother and a sister, Douglas Williams and Sarann Smith and her husband, George, all of Butler, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson; a great-granddaughter, and a brother, James Williams.
<B>WILLIAMS </B>— Friends of Delbert E. Williams, who died Sunday, April 8, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Richard d. Hillis funeral home</B>, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with his church pastor, the Rev. Matthew Van Gorden, officiating. Burial will follow at the New Salem Cemetery, Annisville.Memorial donations may be made to the Martinsburg Church, Bruin, PA 16022; or to the St. Labre Indian School, Tongue River Road, Ashland, MT 59004.
