Dorothy Sinkevich
Dorothy Crawford Sinkevich, 89, of Ferguson Avenue died Wedn-esday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 28, 1917, in Tarentum, she was a daughter of George W. Crawford and Elva V. Hilliard Crawford Perry and the stepdaughter of Allen Perry.
She graduated as valedictorian of the 1934 class at Tarentum High School and was a 1936 graduate of The Butler Business College.
During World War II, she worked in Washington, D.C. for the Office of Strategic Services, which later became the CIA.
Mrs. Sinkevich had been an executive secretary to four successive vice presidents at the Nationwide Insurance regional office in Butler for more than 25 years until her retirement in 1980.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed needlepoint craft work and card games and especially was a fan of the game show, "Jeopardy."
Surviving are her husband, Frank Sinkevich, whom she married March 29, 1962; a son, David C. Gumpper, Ph.D., and his wife, Barbara, of Mount Bethel, North Hampton County; two grandchildren, Leah Gumpper of Mount Bethel and Paul (Molly) Gumpper of Albany, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews, Greg and Cindy Sinkevich, Dennis and Debbie Smolen and John and Julie Smolen.
A brother, Alan Perry, preceded her in death.
