Frank Palko
Frank Palko, 86, of 297 Ekastown Road, Buffalo Township, died Friday at HealthSouth in Monroeville with his family at his side.
Born Feb. 11, 1921, in Buffalo Township, he was the son of Martin and Anna Pavlik Palko
He was a farmer and the owner-operator of Palko's Tavern, established in 1935. He owned the tavern with his wife, Helen, for 60 years.
He was a member of the Holy Martyrs Church in Tarentum. He was a member of the Natrona Heights VFW, an associate member for years, and also a former member of the Slovak Hall in Natrona.
He attended the former Elliott School in Sarver.
He enjoyed singing, entertaining his patrons at his taken with songs. He enjoyed his work on the family farm.
He is survived by two sons, Frank Palko Jr. and Martin Palko, both of Buffalo Township; five daughters, Patricia Donahue of Buffalo Township, Sylvia (Edward) Walters of Buffalo Township, Melanie Palko and Alan Davis of Kittanning; Ramona (Gary) McKinney of Fawn Township, and Helen (Michael) Hranica of Buffalo Township; grandchildren, Jeffery (Kris) Donahue of Saxonburg, Patrick Donahue of Buffalo Township, Kimberly (David) Walters Loughner of West Deer Township, Melissa (Michael) Aller of Allison Park, Timothy and Megan Walters of Buffalo Township, Christopher, Jon and Jill Palko of Kittanning, and Amanda McKinney of Fawn Township; and great-grandchildren David (DJ) Loughner and Alex Aller.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen F. Dzanaj Palko, on Jan. 13, 1981. He was also preceded in death by five sisters, Anna Ruman, Josephine Goldscheitter, Wilma Dzanaj, Margaret Bernard and Helen Kopac, and two brothers, Thomas and Joseph Palko.
<B>PALKO</B> — Friends of Frank Palko, who died Friday, April 20, 2007, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Duster Funeral Home</B>, 10th Avenue at Corbet Street, Tarentum.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Martyrs Church in Tarentum. The Rev. Aaron J. Kriss will officiate.Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery in Natrona Heights.
