Joseph Wolinski

Joseph E. Wolinski, 79, of Hilliards died Friday evening at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness.

Born Dec. 9, 1927, in Girard, Ohio, he was the son of Peter and Sophie Wolinski.

He had been a carpenter for 40 years and retired from Carpenters' Union Local 2274. A large project that he was involved with was a major renovation at Hunter's Truck Sales in Eau Claire in the early 1980s.

Mr. Wolinski was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Murrinsville. He was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Girard.

During World War II, he served with the Army in the Philippines and was honorably discharged with the rank of private.

In earlier years, he had been a coach with the Eau Claire Pre-Teen and the Hornet Little League ball teams. He also worked with other coaches and parents in building and maintaining the dugouts and the ball fields in Eau Claire.

He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed golfing with friends and was a member of the Friday Night Golf League at Slippery Rock. He was a member of bowling teams in Bruin and Slippery Rock for years.

Surviving are three sons, Ray Neverovich and his wife, Jill, of Kentucky, Bob Wolinski and his wife, Stacey, of Butler and Joe Wolinski and his friend, Leslie, of Hilliards; a daughter, Terri Wolinski and her friend, Dan, of Butler; and five grandchildren. He also is survived by two sisters, Veronica Smusz of Youngstown, Ohio, and Sophie Kisen of Girard; and a number of nieces and nephews.

His wife, Wanda Jean Rummel Wolinski, whom he married in June 1961, died Feb. 17, 2007. He also was preceded in death by five sisters and a brother.

<B>WOLINSKI </B>— Friends of Joseph E. Wolinski, who died Friday, May 4, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home</B>, Main Street/ Route 38, Eau Claire. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Tuesday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Murrinsville, with the Rev. Richard Thompson officiating. Burial will be at the Epiphany Church Cemetery, Boyers.Following Mass, members of the Moniteau Ceremonial Squad will conduct graveside veteran services at the cemetery.
