Hazel J. McDaniel
Hazel Josephine McDaniel, 92, of Clintonville died at 2:10 p.m. Saturday at Orc-hard Manor, Grove City, after a long illness.
Born Feb. 22, 1915, in Kennerdell, she was the daughter of Cora Mae Irwin and Layton Ehler Hovis of Kennerdell.
She attended the elementary school near Kennerdell for eight years and graduated from Clintonville High School in 1935. She earned a diploma in business administration from the American Technology Society in 1936.
Mrs. McDaniel was an active member of the Clintonville Grace United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Adult Fellowship Sunday School, the Missionary Society and the Youth Society. She also taught the Beginners and Primary Sunday school classes for years, served on the board of education and was a Communion stewart and as church greeter for years. She also served in the church choir and taught Bible school for years.
She also was an active member of the Women's Club of Clintonville and a charter member of her local AARP chapter.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Donald E. and Arlene K. McDaniel of Clintonville; two grandchildren, Deborah Ann Coon and her husband, Joseph, of Bullion, Venango County, and Donald E. McDaniel Jr. of Franklin; a great-granddaughter, Lillian Rae Coon; and two stepgrandsons, Joey and Hunter Coon.
Two sisters, Helen Kellerman and her husband, Raymond, of Grove City and Betty Cramer and her husband, Dalton, of Kennerdell, also survive.
Her husband, Lorrin Eugene McDaniel, whom she married Oct. 1, 1936, died March 24, 2002. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Ann Hoffman, who died Aug. 10, 1993; a brother, Paul Eugene Hovis; and an infant sister, Mary Annabelle Hovis.
Mrs. McDaniel was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and demonstrated her love and faith in Christ to all she came in contact with. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, quilting, and sewing.

McKinley Funeral Home</B>, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Sung Shik Chung, her church pastor, officiating.
