Richard A. Thompson
Richard Armour Thompson, 86, of Newhaven Court in Center Township, formerly of Eau Claire Street, died at 12:57 a.m. Monday at the Masonic Home, Elizabethtown.
Born Sept. 18, 1920, in Butler, he was the son of Clarence Herold Thompson and Bernice Marie Boyle Thompson.
He had been a roll grinder and a mill representative at Armco-Butler Works, now AK Steel, and retired in October 1982 after 42 years.
Mr. Thompson was a member of the Hill United Presbyterian Church.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bocce and horseshoes.
His wife, Elsie Williams Thompson, died Nov. 18, 1999.
Surviving are a daughter, Kay D. Gilman of Butler; two sons, Richard Thompson of Mount Joy and Robert O. Thompson of Vacaville, Calif.; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
