Millicent I. 'Mickie' Murphy

Millicent I. "Mickie" Murphy, 87, of Knox, Clarion County, died at 3:31 p.m. Monday at Clarion Hospital.

Born May 29, 1919, in Rimer-sburg, she was the daughter of William E. and Edna M. McAninch Hugus Lerch.

She was the salutatorian of the 1937 high school class in Rimersburg and had worked at State Farm Insurance and Seidle Chevrolet, both in Clarion.

Mrs. Murphy was a member of Edenburg Presbyterian Church in Knox, the Order of Eastern Star in Clarion and the Knox Civic Club.

She enjoyed golfing, sewing, knitting, crocheting and spending time with her family.

Surviving are three daughters and their spouses, Kathleen and Chuck Wingard of Shippenville, Doris and Chuck Morris of Statham, Ga., and Christina and David Rogers of Knox RD1; four grandchildren, Charles T. Wingard of Detroit, Mich., Heather D. Wingard of Shippenville, and Shane D. and Chad R. Rogers, both of Knox RD1. She also is survived by a sister, Miriam L. Kline of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, William E. Lerch of Phoenix, Ariz., and A. Winfield "Windy" Lerch of Knox; and a daughter-in-law, Marsha Murphy of Rimersburg.

Her husband, Herbert C. Murphy, whom she married Jan. 17, 1943, died Jan. 24, 1999. She also was preceded in death by a son, Larry Z. Murphy; four brothers, and a sister.

<B>MURPHY </B>— Friends of Millicent I. "Mickie" Murphy, who died Monday, May 7, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in <B>David C. McEntire Funeral Home</B>, 504 E. Penn St., Knox. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jay Montgomery, her church pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Rimersburg Cemetery.
