Maxine Norris

Maxine Buttenfield Norris, 92, of Shelbourne Assisted Living, formerly of Cooperstown, died Friday.

Born Oct. 27, 1914, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of W. Park and Bessie Hertrick Buttenfield.

She was an active member of the Middlesex Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She also was an avid bingo player.

Her greatest joy was giving to others and helping them; and an illustration of her selflessness was aiding those involved in car accidents near her home along Route 8.

She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

She was the loving mother of Nancy (William) Mathews of Valencia, Sallie (Gerald) Miller of Butler and Janet (John) Thompson of Slippery Rock; loving stepmother of David Norris of Valencia and Eileen (Arthur) Maier and family of Crown Pointe, Ind.; and sister-in-law of Lou Strazisar of Valencia. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was the beloved wife of the late Floyd T. Irwin and Emmett L. Norris. She also was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

NORRIS — Friends of Maxine Buttenfield Norris, who died Friday, May 11, 2007, will be received from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Schellhaas Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown.
