As a member of the National Health Corps, he was recruited to the Hoffman Medical Center in East Brady as a family physician in 1974. Soon thereafter, he joined the Cowansville Area Health Center. He became board certified in family practice in 1977 and practiced family medicine with privileges in obstetrics at Cowansville until 1989.

At 46, he was accepted by the Western Pennsylvania Hospital's obstetrics and gynecology residency to complete his OB/GYN training. In 1991, he completed his training and opened his obstetrics and gynecology practice on the campus of ACMH Hospital. In 1994, he realized his lifelong goal and became board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. He continued his solo practice until December 2005, when he retired due to ill health. Over his 32-year career, he delivered more than 4,500 infants.
