Walter Richard "Dick" Henry, 71, of Butler died at 4:45 p.m. Sunday at his home after a brief illness.

Born Dec. 26, 1935, in Connoquenessing, he was the son of Walter Dayton and Helen Alice Hoffman Henry.

He retired in 1995 from Armco-Butler Works, where he was a bricklayer for 36 years.

Mr. Henry served in the Army from 1953 to 1956. He was a member of the VFW Post 249 in Butler and the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora.

He was well known for volunteering for the Veterans Honor Guard, where he organized and participated in many veterans graveside services.

He enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading, crossword puzzles, playing cards, going to camp and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Varano Henry, whom he married July 19, 1957; his children and their spouses, James and Debbie Henry of Riverside, Calif., Tim and Michele Henry and Bruce Henry, all of Butler, and David and Cindy Henry of Renfrew; and six grandchildren, Mrs. Steve (Heather) Crawford, Mrs. Josh (Dawn) Santo and Andrew, Katie, Megan and Emily Henry. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Kelli and Lindsay Crawford and Trent Santo.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rose Marie Henry, and six brothers.

<B>HENRY </B>— Friends of Walter Richard "Dick" Henry, who died Sunday, June 3, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home</B>, 387 Main St., Prospect. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Fisher, pastor of Homeacre Chapel, officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.Memorial contributions may be made to the Graveside Veterans Honor Guard, c/o VFW Post 249/American Legion Post 778, P.O.
