Virginia B. Depew

Virginia Beatrice Depew, 96, formerly of Slippery Rock Township, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Home 2 Me in Slippery Rock.

Born in Steubenville, Ohio, Feb. 12, 1911, she was the daughter of Joseph C. and Martha Meinert Weissert.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Depew was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Hallston. She was a former member of the Slippery Rock Bowling League and the Slippery Rock Homemakers Association.

Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, James H. and Doris Depew of Slippery Rock, William J. and Margy Depew of Mt. Joy, Robert F. and Sandy Depew of Grove City and Albert E. and Donna Depew of Butler; a daughter and son-in-law, Martha Janet and Robert Shymatta of Kennewick, Wash.; a sister, Bernetta Worst of Pittsburgh; and a brother, Regis Weissert of Daytona Beach, Fla. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Elmer Joseph Depew, whom she married June 16, 1930, died Feb. 22 1992. Two infant sons and an infant daughter also preceded her in death.

<B>Depew </B>— Friends of Virginia Beatrice Depew, who died Monday, June 4, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Visitation also will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's United Methodist Church, Hallston, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Ealy officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
