Robert Melvin Flick, 89, of 623 E. Brady St. died Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 8, 1917, in East Butler, he was a son of Frank Prossor and Grace Ross Flick.

He was a 1935 graduate of Worthington West Franklin High School. He worked in the strip shears and the silicon departments at Armco-Butler Works for 33 years before retiring in 1979.

During World War II, he served as an Army medic at Camp Picket, Va., and in North Africa and Italy. He was a past commander and a life member of the Dexter Leroy Donaldson VFW Post 7876 and a life member of the American Legion Post 962, both of Chicora.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a life member of the Happy Hunters Sportsmen's Club in Fenelton and a member of the NRA, National Wildlife Federation, AARP, NAPO, COPS, Retirees Association of Armco, Defenders of Wildlife Association, National Humane Society, American Cancer Society, MS, MD, the Alzheimer Association and the Macular Degeneration and Glaucoma associations. He was a 50-year life member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 962 in Chicora.

He was a member of St Peter Roman Catholic Church and the Catholic Golden Age Association.

Surviving are three sons, Harley Edward Flick and his companion, Patricia Dietz, of Chicora, Robert Melvin Flick Jr. and his wife, Kimberly Stroup Flick, of Karns City and Randall Franklin Flick and his wife, Elizabeth Butler Flick, of Fenelton; two daughters, Beverly Leona Miller and her husband, Richard Miller, and Kathleen Elaine Elder, all of Butler; a son-in-law, Rickey J. Elder of Butler; nine grandchildren, Robert D. Miller of Mercer, Alan J. Miller of Butler, Amber C. and Robert K. Flick, both of Karns City, Abby E. and Anna M. Flick of Fenelton and David H., Amy R. and Cory L. Elder, all of Butler; and five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Thomas and Alyssa Miller, Jeffrey Bergbigler and Nathan Miller. A sister-in-law, Gertrude Flick, also survives.

His wife, Leona Esther Hilderbrand Flick, whom he married Nov. 7, 1945, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sugarcreek, died May 5, 1999. Two sisters, Dorothy Priscilla Southworth Swain and Sarah Elizabeth Swigart; five brothers, Alex, Harley, Grant, Frank and Norman Flick; and an infant sister also preceded him in death.

<B>FLICK</B> — Friends of Robert M. Flick, who died Tuesday, July 17, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Victor Kriley officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Coylesville.Graveside military honors will be accorded by VFW Post 7876 of Chicora.The Women's Council of St. Peter's will recite the rosary at 9:40 a.m. Friday at the church.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
