Dan Farren, born May 17, 1980, in Butler, son of Dan and Doris Farren, brother of Vance Farren, died Friday while deep-sea fishing in Charleston, S.C.

Dan was from West Sunbury, where he lived with his parents and brother until he was assigned to Charleston for his work with Kroll Government Investigations.

Dan was a member of the Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church, where he helped for several years to make the Vacation Bible School program a success.

Dan enjoyed many family activities including water sports and hunting with his father and brother. He was also a snow skier and was learning to snowboard.

While in high school, Dan was active in basketball, cross country, and track. Also during this time, he developed his oil painting hobby, played piano including accompaniment for a dance recital, competed in a kickboxing match that he won and became involved with the Kane Modeling agency.

After high school, Dan obtained an associate degree in criminology from Butler County Community College, while working for Kerr Furniture stores and in the summer water skiing professionally for World Entertainment at Jazzland in New Orleans.

During this time, he entered a Toughman boxing competition in Ohio and placed in the top three. It was also during this time that he developed an interest in sky diving and obtained his class A license by completing many jumps over the next few years.

At Slippery Rock University, Dan obtained a business administration degree in finance, while working for Lowes and water skiing professionally for World Entertainment at Sea World in San Antonio, Texas, for two years.

While living in Charleston, Dan had been learning to surf and had recently joined a beach volleyball team, as well as rekindling his interest in playing guitar. Millie Lewis Models and Talent contracted him for many modeling jobs as well as local TV commercial work, print work, and a small part in the television show "Army Wives."

His paternal grandparents, James and Lillian Farren; his maternal great-grandparents, Rankin and Sara Boosel; as well as his best friend, Daniel Smith, preceded Dan in death.

His maternal grandparents, Walter and Eleanor Boosel; and a sister, Janice Farren-Craig, survive Dan.

<B>FARREN </B>— Friends of Dan Farren, who died Friday, July 20, 2007, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, West Sunbury. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Concord Presbyterian Church, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Boyd Smith officiating. Burial will be at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pleasant Valley Cemetery Association, West Sunbury, PA 16061.
