Police say girl's story about attempted kidnapping was lie
SUMMIT TWP— A girl who last week claimed a man tried to kidnap her was lying, state police said today.
The 13-year-old told her parents and troopers Wednesday she was jogging near the railroad trestle along Herman Road when a man came up behind her and tried to pull her into his car. The girl, who lives not far away, gave a detailed description of the man, including specifics about his tobacco-stained teeth.
But, when state trooper interviewed the girl again at the barracks Monday morning, she "confessed to completely fabricating the entire incident," police said.
Police haven't said if the girl will be charged. The news release said only that the situation will be "handled within the department, per department guidelines."
