Police search for robbery suspects
CENTER TWP — The search continues for two robbers who held up a Clearview Mall department store last week and made off with more than $6,000 stuffed in a diaper bag.
State police said the unknown suspects used walkie-talkies to communicate with one another during the Thursday night heist at the TJMaxx store.
The robbers are described as black men; however, further physical descriptions of the men were limited, according to a police news release.
One robber is about 6 feet, 4 inches tall, he wore a black or brown hat and glasses with large lenses. The other man was smaller than his accomplice; he wore a white shirt with stripes.
Police said the robbers, between 8:40 and 9:08 p.m., handed a clerk a note with instructions to turn over money. The suspects also apparently implied they had a gun, although no weapon was displayed.
The men left the store with $6,321 in a diaper bag described as brown with tan trim; they apparently left in an unknown vehicle. No one was injured.
At least one Clearview Mall security officer later told investigators that shortly before the robbery three black males and a white female "were seen acting in a suspicious manner" about 8 p.m., the police release said.
Police ask anyone with information about the case to call the barracks at 724-284-8100.
