Sandra L. 'Sandy' Unger

Sandra L. "Sandy" Unger, 60, of East Brady died Saturday at her home.

She was born Nov. 23, 1946, in East Brady, the daughter of Kenneth L. and Mildred L. McCanna Snow.

Mrs. Unger was a 1964 graduate of East Brady High School and a graduate of Clarion State College, now Clarion University, with a degree in elementary education. She also did post-graduate work at Clarion University.

She enjoyed traveling to Montana, Wyoming and Colorado, where she participated in classes and seminars involving bears, wolves, geology, history, storytelling, and Western settlement and migration.

She also enjoyed shopping, reading and visits with family and friends.

Mrs. Unger and her husband belonged to and supported many environmental groups and was a benefactor of three Indian schools in Montana and South Dakota.

She taught at Chicora Elementary in the Karns City School District for 30 years, retiring in 1997.

She was a member St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Bradys Bend, and was a volunteer at St. Patrick Church assisting in the kitchen during the Lenten fish dinners.

She was a retired member of the PSEA, a retired member of the NEA and a member of PSAR-Butler County.

She is survived by her husband, James F. Unger of East Brady, who she married March 9, 1968, in St. Patrick Church; a son, Michael Unger and his wife, Christine, of East Brady; a sister, Sally Snow of East Brady; two brothers, Kenneth Snow of North Washington and Kevin Snow of East Brady; her stepfather, James C. Bernard of East Brady; two grandsons, Colin and Carl; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

<B>Unger</B> — There will be no visitation for Sandra L. "Sandy" Unger, who died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Church with the Rev. Joseph Bonafed officiating. Burial will be in St. Eusebius Cemetery, Brady Township.Arrangement are being handled by the <B>BUECHELE FUNERAL HOME</B>, East Brady.Memorial donations can be made to St. Joseph Indian School, Chamberlain, SD.
