Donald E. Beightol
Donald E. Beightol, 78, of Grove City died at 6:04 p.m. Monday at the Grove City Medical Center.
He was born in Grove City on Sept. 22, 1929, the son of Ellis D. and Dorothy E. Baker Beightol.
He retired in 1991 from Grove City Borough where he was the supervisor of Grove City Public Works. He was a former mechanic for Sonntag Sunoco, acting Grove City Borough manager in 1984, a former part-time police officer, a firefighter and the Grove City volunteer fire chief from 1981 to 1990.
He was a member of the Center Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder.
Mr. Beightol was a 1948 graduate of Grove City High School.
He served in the Air Force as an airplane mechanic during the Korean War.
He was a member of the Slippery Rock American Legion and the Grove City Historical Society where he helped contribute to books.
He was interested in the Cushman Scooter and was a ham radio operator.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Barnes Beightol, who he married on July 1, 1952, at home; three daughters, Donna Knight and her husband, Stephen, of Harrisville, Sandra Mullett of Grove City, and Vicky Ramsey and her husband, Les, of Grove City; a sister, Vivian Yeager of Greenville; six grandchildren, Jay and Stephen Knight, David and Chelsea Mullett, and Sara and Micha Ramsey, and great-grandchildren, Jayson and Cameron Knight.
<B>BEIGHTOL</B> — Friends of Donald E. Beightol, who died Monday, Nov. 26, 2007 will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Cunningham Funeral Home</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave, Grove City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Dr. Stanley Keehlwetter and Rev. David A. Lingle officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Grove City.Memorial tributes can be made to the American Heart Association, the Grove City Historical Society or the Grove City Fire Department.
