James 'Jim' Overheim
James L. "Jim" Overheim, 87, of Parker, died suddenly of natural causes at 10:36 a.m. Thursday morning at his residence.
Born Aug. 10, 1920, in Parker, he was the son of Charles Daniel and Frances Lorenz Overheim.
He was a graduate of the former Parker High School.
He was employed over 44 years as a machinist at the former Glass Containers Corp. of Parker and was a member of the Glass Bottle Blowers Association.
Mr. Overheim was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church at Parker.
He was inducted into the army July 27, 1942, and was honorably discharged from the Army Air Force on Oct. 18, 1945, with the rank of staff sergeant. In the service, he was a radar mechanic and navigator on various military aircraft. As a member of the Army Air Force, he served in the air offensives of Europe, including Central Europe, Normandy, northern France, the Rhinelands and the Ardennes. For this service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with six Bronze Stars.
Mr. Overheim was a charter and life member of VFW Post 7073 of Parker, of which he was past commander, and he was a member of American Legion Post 598, also of Parker.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Kifer Overheim; two daughters, Mrs. John (Carla) Reagle of Franklin and Mrs. Jeffrey (Ann) Barrett of Lower Burrell; two stepdaughters: Mrs. Larry (Donna) Stewart of Harrisville and Mrs. John (Lori) Curry of Groton, Conn.; one stepson, Robert Adams of St. Petersburg, Pa.; four grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, William M. "Bill" Overheim of Foxburg and Richard K. "Dick" Overheim of Parker and Washington D.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Overheim was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Galena Overheim, who died March 21, 1980; a son in 1953; and a sister, Frances "Fritzi" Overheim, and brother, Charles F. Overheim.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Parker with Father Joseph Bonafed, church pastor, officiating.
