Robert Clayton Hogan
Robert Clayton Hogan, 81, of Hillville Road in Perry Township, Armstrong County, died at 12:24 p.m. Tuesday at the Chicora Medical Center after a long illness.
Born in Karns City, Oct. 8, 1926, he was a son of Robert Cecil and Myrtle Brocious Hogan.
He was a longtime member of the Queenstown United Methodist Church, where he served as trustee and chairman of the church board and the Pastor Parish Committee.
Mr. Hogan attended elementary school in Chicora and Criswell and graduated in 1944 from the Fairview Township Karns City High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the Navy and served from 1944 to 1946 on the USS Bennington.
Early in his career, he worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, the Western Allegheny Railroad, Cooper Bessemer in Grove City and Damon Industries in Bradys Bend. He then was self-employed as an air-conditioning and refrigeration technician and served the needs of individuals and industry in the Petroleum Valley and elsewhere. He retired in 1996.
He enjoyed grilling hot dogs outside even in the winter.
He married the former Eleanor J. Bishop in East Brady on April 23, 1948. She survives along with a son, Larry Hogan and his wife, Laura, of East Brady; four daughters, Linda Wiegle and her husband, Delton, of Slippery Rock, Sandy Zeitler and her husband, Joseph, of Kennerdell, Susie Bowser and her husband, Ab, of Kittanning and Amy Tascarella and her husband, Dan, of Gadston, Ala.; 12 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three siblings, Audine Malarkey and her husband, Lou, of Parker, Bertha Jean "BJ" Miles of Butler and John Hogan and his wife, Carol, of Kittanning; and a number of nieces and nephews.
<B>HOGAN </B>— There will be no visitation. Funeral services for Robert Clayton Hogan, who died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Queenstown United Methodist Church with the Rev. W. Craig Smith, former pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the Bradys Bend Cemetery.Military honors will be accorded at the church by members of American Legion Post 488 of Bradys Bend.Memorials may be made to the Queenstown United Methodist Church, c/o Eleanor Hogan, Treasurer, 659 Hillville Road, Karns City, PA 16041.Arrangements are being handled by the <B>Richard D.
