SRU baseball nets 5-3 win
Slippery Rock University's baseball team plated three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning in a 5-3 defeat of Mansfield Sunday in Fort Pierce, Fla.
Senior first baseman Scott Hugney went 3-for-4 at the plate, which included a game-winning RBI hit in the eighth.
Freshman reliever Brett Vescovi picked up the win after relieving starter Justin Dickert.
Vescovi pitched the final 2 2/3 innings, allowing just one hit and striking out one.
The Rock (4-2) will play at two-time defending Division II national champion Tampa at 7 p.m. Monday.
In Saturday's action, SRU dropped two games to Northwood University (Mich.) by scores of 11-1 and 18-8.
