Genevieve Rearick

Genevieve Nixon Negley Rearick, a longtime resident of Butler and a former longtime resident of Tarentum, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully Tuesday.

She was born Dec. 17, 1922, to Walter and Luella Faltz Nixon.

Genevieve was a descendant of the Nixon Hotel family and was the mother of 14 children. Although there were difficult times, she always did her best. Most of all, she loved her family and will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Alexander Negley; second husband, H.J. "Hap" Rearick; and daughter, Helen Negley Angello.

Survivors include sons, John, Edgar, Richard "Nick," Roy and Robert Negley; daughters, Mary Jane Negley, Alice Sullivan, Ruth Williams, Stella Morris and Sally Headrick. Genevieve also had six stepchildren by her second husband, "Hap" Rearick. There are 27 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

The family thanks Mary Jane for her hours of companionship to Mom and Robert "Butch" Negley for overseeing her needs while she was a patient at Sunnyview Nursing Center. They also thank the staff at Sunnyview Second Floor IMC, Intermediate Care Unit, for their devoted care.

<B>REARICK </B>— A memorial service for Genevieve Nixon Negley Rearick, who died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Community Full Gospel Church, 215 W. North St., Butler, under the direction of Pastor Gary Patterson.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Genevieve's memory to the church or to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), 2107 Wilson Blvd., Suite 300, Arlington, VA 22201.
