James H. Johnston
James Howard "Jim" Johnston, 84, of White Oak Drive, Renfrew, died at 2:40 a.m. Monday at the St. John Specialty Care Center, Mars.
Born June 15, 1923, in Connoquenessing, he was the son of Melvin Edward and Edna Pearl McKinnis Johnston.
He was a 1941 graduate of Butler High School and had been a welder at Armco for 32 years.
Mr. Johnston was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed gardening and was an avid outdoorsman.
Surviving are his wife, Marcella Grace Sarver Johnston, whom he married July 16, 1943; a son, Timothy J. Johnston and his wife, Susan, of Renfrew; two daughters, Sherrill Cashdollar and her husband, Paul, of Butler and Martha Robb and her husband, Robert, of Finleyville; six grandchildren, Phillip Robb of California, Gayle Robb of Brighton Heights, Christopher Cashdollar of Havertown, Beth Cashdollar of Philadelphia, Sarah Johnston of Pittsburgh and Molly Johnston of Renfrew; three great-grandchildren, James and Levi Robb and Zoey Cashdollar; two sisters, Betty Gregory and her husband, Tom, of Renfrew and Dorothy Farner of Connoquenessing; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A brother, Robert Johnston, preceded him in death.
<B>JOHNSTON</B> — Friends of James Howard "Jim" Johnston, who died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church with church pastor, the Rev. Gary Brown, and the Rev. David Gerhardt, pastor of the Trinity Emanuel Lutheran Church of Rochester, N.Y., officiating.
