Stephen J. Madeja
Stephen J. Madeja, 88, of Cranberry Township died Wednesday at his home.
Born Dec. 7, 1919, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of John G. and Elizabeth Soltis Madeja.
He was a member of St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church and the Royal Court. For years he was a volunteer milkman at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. He also was a member of Cranberry Seniors.
During World War II, he served with the Army in the 225th Searchlight Battalion, which landed on Omaha Beach. He was a member of VFW Post 879, Cranberry Township.
He had been an electrical engineer for the former Pennsylvania Vending Co. and later for the state of Pennsylvania.
Surviving are his wife, Helen B. Homyak Madeja, who he married Oct. 16, 1948; a daughter, Sharon J. Madeja of Cranberry Township; two sons, Stephen J. Madeja and his wife, Susan, of Adams Township and Robert J. Madeja and his wife, Beverly, of Chantilly, Va.; two sisters, Margaret Taylor and Irene Tomaszewski of Pittsburgh; eight grandchildren, Stephen III, Shelley, Laura, Joseph, Brandon, Robert Jr., Natalie and Matthew; and a great-granddaughter, Liliya Rose.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emily Marie Madeja; two brothers, John and Joseph; and three sisters, Rose, Helen and Ann.

Madeja, who died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation Services</B>, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township, with the Rev. Edward Kunco as celebrant.
