Emily E. Rea Beacom

Emily E. Rea Beacom, 94, of Frazer died Feb. 23, 2008, at the Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Harrison.

She was born Aug. 17, 1913, in East Deer, lived in Frazer most of her life and was a 1931 graduate of Tarentum High School.

She was a member of the Pleasant Unity United Presbyterian Church of West Deer; Frazer Gardening Club; Frazer Volunteer Fire Department 1 Auxiliary; and the Gladys Hess Sunday School Class, which she attended for more than 50 years with perfect attendance and was the class secretary. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and sewing.

Survivors include a daughter, Eleanor R. (William) Abplanalp of Edinboro; three sons, Robert L "Vern" (Shirley L.) Beacom of Frazer, Larry E. Beacom of Clinton Township and W. Curtis Beacom of Wellsboro; 9 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, W. Samuel and Edna M. (Garvin) Rea; her husband, Robert C. Beacom, who died March 10, 1978; and three sisters, May Altmeyer, Alice A. Beacom and Evelyn L. Harvey.

<B>BEACOM</B> — Friends of Emily E. Rea Beacon, who died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME</B>, 23 McKrell Road, West Deer Township, where services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday with her pastor, the Rev. John Gehring-Anders, officiating. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Indiana Township.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Pleasant Unity United Presbyterian Church, 188 Millerstown-Culmerville Road, Tarentum, PA 15084.
