JUNIOR HIGH TRACK AND FIELD

The Butler Junior High girls track and field team defeated Shaler and Mars recently.

Golden Tornado first-place finishes came from Lexis Frost in the 100-meter hurdles (17.23 seconds), long jump (14 feet, 1 inch) and triple jump (31-11), Vanessa Tomsey in the 800, Paige Allen in the 200 (30.29), Ava Bonetti in the shot put (27-4) and discus (66-6), Amber Zanella in the pole vault (6 feet).

The mile relay team of Alexa Gray, Alison Thompson, Tomsey and Rachel Koneiczney also won for Butler.

In other action:

• Frost won the hurdles, long jump and triple jump in a 66½-59½ win over North Hills. Other winners for the Tornado were Rachel Kalieczny in the 800 (2:47), Zanella in the pole vault and Paige Rittleman in the high jump (4-8).

• The Butler boys improved to 4-0 with a 105-22 win over North Hills. Carlos Sanchez took first in the 110 hurdles (18.0) and 400 (59.1) while Cody West claimed the 800 (2:26.8) and triple jump (33-10), and Jacob Alston won the long jump (15-10) and high jump (4-10).

Also claiming firsts for Butler were Alex Yonker in the 100 (13.5), Trey Neveux in the 1,600 (5:35), Dakoda Collins in the 200 (26.7) and Mike McPherson in the shot put (40-3).

The Tornado's 400-meter relay team of Evan Parke, Patrick Lokhaiser, Yonker and Collins won the event in 51.06 while the 1,600-meter relay team of Canan Roskovski, Trey Robinson, Neveux and Sanchez won in 4:16.2.
