BUTLERTWP — Wearing an Ace bandage around his face as a disguise, an unknown man armed with a gun Monday night held up a drugstore at the Greater Butler Mart on Route 8 south of Butler.

No one was hurt but the robber made off with an undetermined amount of drugs at the Rite-Aid pharmacy, according to township police.

Police have no suspects but investigators are still reviewing videotape of the robbery taken by store surveillance cameras.

"One of my officers said the guy's face was wrapped like a mummy,"said township police Chief Gary Garman, referring to the man's makeshift mask.

The robber is described as white, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium build. He is between 40 and 50 years old and wore glasses.

He was dressed in a green hooded sweatshirt, khaki pants and brown slippers or loafer-type shoes.

Investigators believe the man waited until closing time to do the crime. When an employee just before 9 p.m. unlocked the front door to let the last customer out, the robber rushed in, pushing the customer and employee back into the store.

Holding a revolver, the man went to the back of the store to the pharmacy and told the employees, "Give me the pills."

Investigators were told that the robber had a "raspy voice,"Garman said, adding that the man pointed the gun at those inside during the holdup.

The man was only in the store for "a short time," police said. They would not identify what drugs were stolen.

It was not immediately known if the robber made off in a getaway car.
