Frank Andrew Gill
Frank Andrew Gill, 91, of Slippery Rock Township died Friday after a short illness.
Born in Slippery Rock Township on Sept. 18, 1916, he was the son of Charles David and Ida Glenn Gill.
He was the owner/operator of Gill's Garage & Auto Sales in Slippery Rock from 1946 to 1996, where he sold late-model used cars and provided general repair and body service.
He was a member of the Highland Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock, where he served in many offices, including elder and trustee.
He was a member and chief of the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department and continued as honorary member. He was the oldest member of the company, recognized by the department last year for his service. He was a Notary Public for many years.
He enjoyed bowling and had been active in the church league for many years.
He is survived by one daughter, Sallie C. and husband, John W. "Bill" Propst, of Kennerdell; one son, Richard C. "Dick" Gill of Cowansville; a grandson, Todd A. and wife Holly Propst of Erie; a granddaughter, Teri L. Propst of Erie; a great-grandson, Cody R. Propst of Seneca, Pa.; and a great-granddaughter, Gina M. Groszkiewicz of Erie.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verla Grace Hovis whom he married June 21, 1940, and who died Dec. 9, 2000. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Ross M. Gill and Howard Gill; and one sister, Helen Gill Erwin.
<B>GILL</B> — Friends of Frank Andrew Gill, who died Friday, April 11, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at <B>SMITHFUNERALHOME</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. The family also will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service Tuesday at Highland Presbyterian Church, 310 Franklin St., Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Albert Stuart of Highland Presbyterian Church presiding.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Highland Presbyterian Church.
