Paul L. Gladd
Paul L. Gladd, 67, of Cottage Avenue died Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 29, 1940, in Butler, he was a son of the late Chester E. and Sarah Swatgart Gladd.
Mr. Gladd was a coal miner for 25 years in the Butler area and retired in 1989 from Beth Energy in Saxonburg.
He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He also was a NASCAR fan and loved going to the races at Lernerville Speedway.
He served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard for 12 years.
His wife, Carol C. Spohn Gladd, whom he married Jan. 9, 1959, died Oct. 18, 1997. A brother, two infant brothers and an infant sister also preceded him.
Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. David (Debra Ann) Cress of Fenelton; a son and his wife, Paul L. Gladd Jr. and Marci Gladd of Butler; two sisters, Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Mershimer of West Sunbury, and Mrs. Larry (Mary Jane) Karnes of Connoquenessing; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Gladd of Queens Junction; five grandchildren, Mrs. Jeremy (Christina) Sumney, David Cress and his wife, Shawna Cress, Mrs. Philip (Megan) Hankey and Chad and Paul Gladd; and five great-grandchildren, Shane and Caleb Cress and Chloe, Levi and Ethan Sumney.
<B>GLADD </B>—<B> </B>Friends of Paul L. Gladd, who died Saturday, May 10, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Lynn, pastor of the Butler Wesleyan Methodist Church, officiating.
