Josephine S. Stehle
Josephine Sheila Stehle, 86, of 151 Oak St. died Wednesday at the Sunnyview Home.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond D. Stehle, who she married Dec. 27, 1948. Also surviving are their six children, David Stehle (Yvonne) and John F. Stehle (Alice), all of Butler, James Stehle (Phyllis) of Washington, D.C., Mary C. Stehle McQueen (Curtis McQueen) of Kempton, Pa., Thomas V. Stehle of Washington, D.C., and Vincent W. Stehle (Patricia Caesar) of New York, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren, Katie, John, Gregory, Maureen and Nathan Stehle and Sheila, Jasper and Mieke McQueen.
Born March 1, 1922, in Butler, Sheila Stehle was a daughter of William A. and Katherine Killian Hartman.
She was a 1940 graduate of Butler High School. She then earned her registered nursing degree from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. Soon after graduation, she entered the Army Nursing Corps and served in England during World War II. Following the war, she was a private duty nurse from 1945-47 and at the Deshon Army Hospital from 1947-49, where she aided U.S. veteran tuberculosis patients.
She also was a homemaker, mother and grandmother and was a lifelong member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
Sheila Stehle also is survived by three siblings, Phillip Hartman of Lyndhurst, Ohio, Elizabeth Keller of Canton, Ohio, and her twin sister, Ann O'Sullivan of Butler. Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
<B>STEHLE </B>— Friends of Josephine Sheila Stehle, who died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.A vigil service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.The St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will recite the rosary at 10:40 a.m. Saturday at the church.Memorial donations may be made to Lifeline of Southwestern Pennsylvania, Butler Chapter, 422 N.
