K. Keith Eakin
K. Keith "Squeak" Eakin, 78, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, died Thursday at his home.
He was born Feb. 21, 1930, in Grove City to Kenneth F. and Hazel Morrison Eakin. Keith was raised by his father and stepmother, Hilda Harner Eakin, after his mother's death shortly after his birth.
He served in the Army during the Korean War and retired from Cooper-Bessemer as a pricing analyst.
Mr. Eakin was a member of the American Legion in Harrisville, the Masonic Lodge 9 of Mount Vernon, the Shriner's and the Knox County Fish and Game Association.
Keith was a former member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church and current member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of more than 51 years, Doris Thompson Eakin; a son, Mark Eakin of South Vienna, Ohio; two daughters, Judy (Rick) Mark of Carroll, Ohio, Sally (Joel) Daniels of Mount Vernon; six grandchildren, Ashley and Corey Eakin and Alyssa and Adam Mark, and Grant and Blake Daniels; a great-grandchild, August Govoni; a sister, Barbara Gibson of Butler; and many nieces nephews and friends.
A sister, Sally Snyder, preceded him in death.

Keith "Squeak" Eakin, who died Thursday, April 24, 2008, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the <B>Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home</B>, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. Visitation also will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the Harrisville United Methodist Church, where services will follow at noon with the Rev. William Hastings officiating.
