Harry T. Thompson Jr.
Harry T. Thompson Jr., 85, of Forest Heights Apartments, formerly of Layton Drive, died Wednesday at his home following a short illness.
Born March 3, 1923, in Butler, he was a son of Harry T. Sr. and Marie Einsporn Thompson.
He worked as a welder at the Pullman Standard Car Company in Butler for 30 years until his retirement in 1982.
He was an artistic man, working many professions. He was a bricklayer, steeplejack, stonemason, railroad worker, and was a professional archer. He was a talented woodworker and traveled the Butler and Pittsburgh area for 10 years attending shows as Thompson's Woodcrafts. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and traveling.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post 249 in Butler and the AARP.
Mr. Thompson was a member of St. John's Reformed Church in Meridian.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean Henderson Thompson. They were married Aug. 6, 1955.
Also surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Kathy and Don Hines of Butler and Karen and Greg Tritch of Meridian; his three shining stars whom he loved with all his heart, granddaughter Aysa Bachman of Butler and twin grandsons Tanner and Cody Tritch of Meridian; a brother and his wife, Paul and Florence Thompson of Franklin; a sister-in-law, Flora Buzanoski; two nieces; and three nephews.
A sister and a niece preceded him in death.
<B>THOMPSON</B> — Friends of Harry T. Thompson Jr., who died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert C. Peterson, pastor of St. John's Reformed Church, officiating. Burial is at Butler County Memorial Park.
