Paul B. Phipps
Paul B. Phipps, 85, of Harrisville died at 6:55 p.m. Sunday at the Grove Manor Nursing Home in Grove City, where he lived for three years.
Born July 15, 1922, in Grove City, he was a son of LowryWalter and Elma F. Surrena Phipps.
Mr. Phipps had worked for Cooper Energy Services in Grove City, where he retired, and he also was a school bus driver for the Franklin School District.
He was a member of the Barkeyville United Methodist Church. He was one of the original members of Barkeyville Borough in Venango County when it was established. A member of the F&AM Lodge in Grove City, he was an avid hunter and gardener.
Mr. Phipps served in the Navy during World War II as a medic.
He is survived by three children, Doug P. Phipps and his wife, Carolyn, of Harrisville; Carol J. Christie and her husband, Edward E., of Harrisville; and Sandy S. Berrios of Apex, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn M. Weissert, whom he married Dec. 27, 1949, and who died Dec. 28, 2004; two sisters, Lucille McNeese and Donna J. Phipps; and two brothers, Claude and Andrew Phipps.
<B>PHIPPS</B> — Friends of Paul B. Phipps, who died Sunday, May 11, 2008, will be received from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at <B>CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave, Grove City. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Stephanie Thompson of the Barkeyville United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Old Log Cemetery, Irwin Township, Venango County.
